Lookout
Lookout monitors the progress of jobs running on the AstroGrid system and allows to display the results.
1. Background
Whenever you execute a task (see Task Launcher) or workflow on the AstroGrid system, a Lookout window opens for you to monitor their progress.
2. Monitoring job progress
If you used the Task Launcher to submit a query to a data centre, double click on Queries to display a list of your queries. Similarly if you submitted a tool using the Task Launcher double click on Tasks, and if you submitted a Workflow, double click on Workflows. Clicking on one of the jobs under Queries or Tasks or Workflows, displays in the top right panel the list of messages related to its execution. Clicking on a message will display it in the bottom right panel.
Jobs that are running are displayed in green, those that are pending (in a queue) in blue, completed jobs in black and those that ended with an error in red.
Lookout will automatically refresh, but you can also refresh manually by clicking on the refresh icon. To delete a transcript from the list, highlight it and choose the Delete icon).
The number next to a job name indicates how many messages from the execution you have not yet read. By clicking on the blue 'tick' icon, you can mark all messages as read.

3. Viewing job results
If the job completed successfully, the last message in the top right panel will be 'Result'. Click on this entry and the results will be listed in the bottom right panel of the window.
If you submitted a Query, the result will be a Votable. The best way to view it is to send it to Topcat. Launch Topcat, then click on the result, at the bottom right of the Lookout window, and choose: 'To Topcat, as Votable' (see screenshot below).
If you submitted a task whose result is not a Votable, you can click on it and save it on your local computer or MySpace.

3. Viewing Workflow transcripts
If you submitted a Workflow, you will also see a transcript of the execution. If you click on 'transcript', you can launch the Transcript Viewer that will display execution information.
